Making Your Vote Count
by Pastor Jim Wandell
We stand at the threshold of the most important election in America`s history.  Many people feel that their vote really doesn`t matter.  But in truth it is vitally important.  Let me give you a few facts about what “one” vote can do:
1. Thomas Jefferson won the presidential election of
    1800 by one vote.
2. The states of California, Idaho, Oregon, Texas, and
Washington, became states by one vote.
3. President George W. Bush won the 2000 presidential
election by a margin of less than one vote per precinct
    in the State of Florida.
These facts are evidence that your vote does count!
Our freedom in America grants us the right to vote, but God considers it our Spiritual duty to do so.  In Deuteronomy 16:18-20 God required Israel to select judges and officers throughout their tribes.  Today, here in America, God requires the same from us.  Verse 20 says, “That which is altogether just shalt thou follow, that thou mayest live, and inherit the land which the Lord thy God giveth thee”.  God has given us this land, America, and we are held responsible before God for our vote.  Our vote is the opportunity to justly, and in a right form and manner elect godly officials to lead our people. We will have to answer to God if we don`t vote or if we misuse our vote.  And remember this, not voting is voting for the devil and his laws that will ultimately effect every believer.
Our ballot is our seed before God.  We are to cast our ballot after praying in earnest, about the selections we are to make.  Spend time in prayer concerning your vote so your seed is precious seed when you cast it.  If you pray and know in your heart that you are voting the way God told you to vote, He will take care of you regardless of what the administration does.  God will take care of you because you have done that which is just and right in His sight!
Dear brothers and sisters in Christ, I am not telling you who to vote for, but I am telling you this: do not vote based on promises, programs, personalities, or party lines.  Just vote according to God`s Will (which is written in His Word) and vote for God`s candidates.  Know what God says about the issues in question and vote the Word`s way, not the world`s way.  When a Christian knowingly votes for a candidate or legislation that is contrary to the Word and Will of God, they leave themselves open for judgment because they have willingly (and knowingly) allowed sin into a position of authority with law making power.  We are accountable before God on how we vote (…not my will but Your will be done Lord!).
I hope you see how important your vote as a born again believer really is.  And as you prepare to vote, follow God`s leading and not the TV and news media.  Let God shape your decision as you vote and help shape America for the days that lie ahead.
“When the righteous are in authority the people rejoice: but when  the wicked beareth rule, the people mourn.” (Proverbs 29:2)
When God`s candidates are in office, then He can truly bless America!  It's time to vote God's way America!
So you're finally 18!
Now is the time to start making a difference in the world by casting your first vote.
How do I vote the way God wants me too?
